An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time, permanent HGV Mechanic to join our busy plant/HGV maintenance team.

Job Overview

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the purpose of this role is to maintain our HGV fleet while providing a high level of safety and customer service. This will involve performing repair and maintenance work in accordance with factory and industry standards, running diagnostics on vehicles and working closely with other team members to meet company goals.

Your Responsibilities and Duties will include:

  • Carry out HGV diagnostics and fault finding
  • Carry out HGV monthly inspections, ongoing repairs and MOT preparation
  • Ensure all HGV paperwork and records are kept in order
  • Carry out repairs to HGV’s, including identifying need for replacement parts, and passing this information on to the Maintenance Manager
  • Maintaining a safe and tidy work area
  • Comply with all HSE requirements at EMN premises and sites, as well as all client sites
  • Understand and adhere to the company and department standards, policies and procedures
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding the company’s business / employees / clients / customers / visitors
  • Follow health, safety and environmental policies, guidelines and procedures as set out by the company at all times
  • Be familiar with garage security measures, ensuring the premises are locked and secured at all times
  • Report any accidents in the workplace to management immediately
  • Liaise with, and follow instructions from all senior employees
  • Work as part of a team and actively demonstrate a willingness to support and achieve the overall business objectives
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all colleagues, assisting as required
  • Any other duties as directed by Management

Essential Qualifications and Attributes:

  • Heavy Vehicle Maintenance SVQ Level 3, or equivalent
  • Full, valid Driving Licence
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Good analytical skills
  • Physical fitness and stamina to stoop, crawl, work laying down, and lift heavy machinery

The following Qualifications and Attributes are desirable, but not essential as training will be provided:

  • HGV Driver Licence
  • Plant Maintenance qualification
  • Forklift truck qualification

Schedule:

  • 8.5 hour day
  • Monday to Friday
  • Weekend on-call shared rota
  • Overtime regularly available (x1.5 and x2)
  • Consideration will be given to part time hours and flexible working
