Sadie Anderson our Apprentice Plant Operator was awarded 'Star of the Week' on our UGC contract with Morgan Sindall at Kergord. Sadie has been safely lifting cabins into the cable jointing bays using a 20 ton excavator. She has now been earmarked for the remaining lifts on the project by her Lifting Supervisor thanks to her carefull and accurate use of the excavator. Well done Sadie!!!
In September we lifted in the first of these containers in to the first Joint Bay. These containers come in 3 sections, each weighing 2 tons. When placed in the joint bay they provide a shelter and area for the cable jointing to take place. Each joint takes 10 days to complete and as of Thursday 26/09/24, the first joint has been completed, marking a big milestone for the project.
The project is part of connecting the Kergord HVDC Convertor Station to the Gremista GSP with a 132kV link and powering the Shetland Distribution Grid from the Viking Energy Wind Farm.
