History
EMN Plant is a family run business with roots in some of the largest construction works in Shetland.
While the company was established in 2007, the business it was built on began in the 1970s with the late Edmund M Nicolson and Nicolson Plant. The fledgling company was well suited to take advantage of the booming oil industry, and became one of Shetland's leading plant hire companies.
Over the years the company went through some changes, with Nicolson Plant being sold in 2003.
However in 2008 EMN Plant was established. The following year the depot at Sella Ness was acquired, and work soon began on contracts at Sullom Voe and a specialist fencing project, before the Total Gas Plant developments began in 2010. Additional machinery was acquired to cope with demand, and at its peak the company had over 60 items of plant on site and employed around 100 people.
EMN Plant has since been heavily involved in supplying plant hire, construction and civil engineering services for a range of projects across the isles.
